Paris Has Its First Female Mayor!

Stylish, no-nonsense women are as endemic to Paris as baguettes, and yet none has ever formally taken charge of the city—until now. On March 30, Anne Hidalgo was elected mayor of Paris, and when she’s sworn in on April 5, she’ll be the first woman to hold the position since Paris started electing leaders in the 13th century.

We don’t think Mme. Hidalgo really needs any help in the style department, but just in case she’s wondering what to wear as she steps into her new role, we have a few suggestions for her.

1. Anne should set a serious tone by getting sworn in wearing the Etsuko, a versatile dress that shows she’s a woman of the people—albeit a tremendously stylish one.

2. Anne should show up for her first day of work at Hôtel de Ville in the Narie, a dress that says: “That’s right. I’m the boss now.”  

3. Let’s not forget that this is France. The Metro workers could strike at any moment. Anne should manage her first crisis in the Felisa, the ultimate go-getter dress.

4. Even the leaders of world capitals need to kick back over a bottle of Dom sometimes. And when Anne does, she should do it in the ever-elegant Akiko.
